In the Yvonette Chua Plaza murder investigation, the SITG filed accusations against the suspects for murder, theft, and obstruction of justice.
For the previous president, Rodrigo Duterte, Durante oversaw the Presidential Security Group (PSG).
Durante said Plaza was a friend and even sympathized with her family, but he denied any role in the murder.
General Romeo Branwer Jr., the head of the Army, stated separately that Durante was let go “to make place for an impartial and complete investigation.”
In a statement to the media, Brawner stated, “The Army assures the public that this occurrence is not service related.”
Gultiano stated that members of the 1001st Infantry Brigade, stationed in Davao de Oro, were also prosecuted concerning the model’s murder.
They were identified as Staff Sergeant Gilbert Plaza, Private Class Delfin Sialsa, Corporal Adrian Cachero, Corporal Romart Longakit, Corporal Rolly Cabal, and Noel Hapitan.
According to the particular investigation task group, the Davao City Office of the City Prosecutor lodged the accusations against the Army officers.

According to Gultiano, Licyayo allegedly supplied the logistical details required to carry out the murder.
Gultiano said that Cachero and Sialsa were the riders of the motorcycle. The accused squad Leader, Gilbert Plaza, was observed by Cabal and Longakit.
On December 29, Plaza was fatally shot outside of her Davao home. At first, Durante was thought to be a suspect in the case.

Army Official Involvement Facts – Davao Model Murder
Yvonette “Yvonne” Chua Plaza was a model-turned-businesswoman. A general in the Philippine Army, whose name has been linked to the murder, has come forward to deny any involvement in it and assert that he, too, was seeking justice for the death of the person he called his friend.
Brig. Gen. Jesus Durante III, a former director of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) under former President Rodrigo Duterte, emphasized how saddened he was by Plaza’s passing. On December 29, men riding motorcycles shot and killed Plaza in a neighborhood in this city.
He explained that Plaza’s death had drawn attention to him because of a social media post she made in April 2022 that featured bruises and cuts on her face and named him as the person who caused them. Durante is currently in charge of the 1001st Brigade of the Army and is based in the province of Davao de Oro.
