The lives of famous people are constantly scrutinized, with their every move judged by others. The legalization of cannabis in some states in America has seen more celebrities open up about their use of marijuana.
Most use the herb for recreational purposes, but some also take advantage of the medicinal benefits for chronic illnesses. Keep reading as we divulge further into the celebrity world of actors and singers who like to blaze buds.
1. Kirsten Dunst
Kirsten Dunst, a famous actress, doesn’t consider herself a major stoner. However, she once stated, “The world would be a better place if more people smoked marijuana.”
In a massive controversy in 2007, Dunst was robbed in a New York hotel. The accused claimed they were in her suite to deliver weed, but Dunst declined these accusations.
The defense attorney even stated, “I don’t think there’s a person on this planet who would believe she doesn’t smoke cannabis.”
2. Seth Rogen
Seth Rogen openly admits that he’s a celebrity who smokes weed. He took his enthusiasm to the next level by launching a cannabis company, Houseplant, in 2019.
It distributes 420 products and custom-made marijuana home goods through different retailers in California. Rogen even makes some of these products himself. In 2022, US cannabis sales increased by 67%, with more online shops opening up all over America.
Rogen spoke about his personal use of the herb and admitted that he smokes 8–9 joints per day.
In an interview, Rogen said, “I drink my coffee as I smoke my joint, and I’ll continue smoking weed until I go to sleep. I often wake in the middle of the night and have a few hits of the joint if I’m not sleeping well”.
From that statement, you’d think it’s safe to assume he’s a legendary actor who smokes weed.

3. Lady Gaga
While the majority of famous cannabis users use the herb for recreational purposes, some celebrities have been outspoken about its medicinal benefits.
Actress, singer, and songwriter Lady Gaga has been vocal about using marijuana to manage chronic pain. She has fibromyalgia, which causes significant musculoskeletal pain, sleep problems, and memory and mood issues.
Lady Gaga admitted that although the herb helps her manage her chronic pain, it also stimulates her creativity in writing music.
4. Woody Harrelson
Well-known actor, Woody Harrelson, is no novice in the cannabis industry. He’s taken his love for blazing bud and positioned himself on the National Organization for Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) board.
In 2017, he briefly quit cannabis. Two years later, he stated that he’d started smoking again and has been advocating for legalizing marijuana since.
He recently embraced the cannabis industry by establishing a dispensary in West Hollywood called The Woods. In an interview at the opening, he stated, “I haven’t made a secret of my fondness for the medicinal, magical goddess plant.”
5. Cameron Diaz
Who went to high school with probably the world’s most legendary weed smoker, Snoop Dogg? It was none other than the There’s Something About Mary actress Cameron Diaz.
In an interview in 2011, Diaz admitted she’d bought marijuana from the rapper during her school days. Snoop confirmed this story in an interview, stating he sold her “white girl weed.”
6. Matthew McConaughey
Matthew McConaughey has never hidden the fact that he’s an actor that smokes weed.
In 1999, he was arrested in his home for being under the influence of marijuana. Police stated that he was naked and playing with the bongos when they arrived. Funny now, but getting caught in the nude might not have been a laugh then.
While filming The Beach Bum, McConaughey admitted that his co-star, Snoop Dogg, had swapped out the prop weed with actual cannabis. Snoop revealed that McConaughey rapped for 13 hours straight after that scene.
Another co-star that admitted to using marijuana with McConaughey is Kate Hudson. She revealed that the pair “might have” smoked weed on the set of the movie, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
7. Belle Thorne

Its offerings include colorful pre-rolled joints. Thorne confessed that she had to smoke a lot of weed to ensure the strains were perfect for her brand. Glass House Farms in Santa Barbara supplies the high-quality buds the business uses to produce its products.
8. Brad Pitt
Not all stars who’ve smoked weed continue to dabble in the world of cannabis. Brad Pitt stopped because it became an “unhealthy substance” in his life. The actor admits he spent most of the 1990s stoned and hiding away from the public.
Although he was constantly in the spotlight, Pitt became uncomfortable with all the attention. His weed use became an addiction and was believed to play a significant part in his divorce from Angelina Jolie. She stated that his marijuana habit created an “inappropriate environment for their children.”
