The most common complications after surgery are breast brain, and changes in nipple and breast sensation, according to the UTSouthwestern Medical Center.

Occasionally women experience a condition medically known as breast implication illness (BII) after their surgery, which comprises more than 100 symptoms.

Patients with BII are unlikely to receive a formal diagnosis for their symptoms, despite them leading to mental struggles in some cases.

“Because so many BII symptoms are associated with other conditions, it’s important to rule out causes unrelated to the breast implants,” explains the UTSouthwestern Medical Center.
