Professor Jonathan Chow, who authored the study, said: “As we learned about the connection between blood clots and COVID-19, we knew that aspirin – used to prevent stroke and heart attack – could be important for COVID-19 patients.”

Investigating further, their research pinpoints to “an association between low-dose aspirin and decreased severity of COVID-19 and death”.

The report was based on 400 patients who were admitted to hospital in the States from March to July 2020.

Patients given low dose aspirin had a 44 percent reduced chance of needing mechanical ventilation.
