Kealia Watt is an American professional soccer player who has represented, as a midfielder/forward, Houston Dash (2014-2019), and Chicago Red Stars (2020-Present) in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). At the international level, she had represented the United States in the Under-15, Under-17, Under-18, Under-20, and Under-23 tiers before making her senior national team debut in 2016. In 2012, she was an integral member of the American squads that had lifted the CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football) Women’s Under-20 Championship as well as the FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) Under-20 Women’s World Cup. 1. Kealia is legally blind in her right eye.
2. As a nod to her part-Hawaiian ancestry, her parents named her after Kealia Beach on the island of Kauai, the second-oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands.
3. During her time at the Alta High School, she led her school team to 4 state soccer championships from 2006 to 2009. She was a 3-time first-team high school All-American, 3-time All-State selection, and the 2010 NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) ‘National High School Player of the Year’.
4. Between 2000 and 2010, she had also represented a local club called the Utah Avalanche and won 4 state titles with them.

8. She had finished the 2016 NWSL season tied for the ‘Golden Boot’ award (presented to the season’s top goal-scorer). She was given the award because she had more assists. She was also named in the season’s ‘NWSL Best XI’.
9. Kealia made her international debut for the senior national team in October 2016, against Switzerland, in a friendly match. She scored a goal just 48 seconds after entering the field as a substitute in the 81st minute. This had set a new American record for the fastest goal by a debutant in an international match.
10. Midway through the 2017 NWSL season, she had torn her ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) which had ruled her out of the remainder of the season.
11. She returned to the field of play in April 2018 and was traded to the Chicago Red Stars in January 2020 in exchange for a defender and the 18th overall selection in the 2020 NWSL College Draft.
