Who is Conrad Iyayi?

Conrad Iyayi, 44, appeared at Derby Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, charged with the murder of Kathryn Jane Harris, 52, who was found seriously injured at the home they shared in Littleover, Derbyshire, at 7:00 p.m. 15 a.m. m. Sunday.


Dressed in a gray tracksuit and face mask, Iyayi spoke only to confirm his name and address, before the case was adjourned until 10am tomorrow, when it will be heard at Derby Crown Court.

Arriving at the couple’s home on Sunday, paramedics did their best to save Ms Harris, but she died at the scene.


Investigation


Investigators have not made public the nature of her injuries.

Parents of children taught by Ms. Harris, affectionately known as Katy, described her as a “wonderful teacher” and a “fantastic mother” in tributes shared online.

They revealed how he taught art to children at a school for children with special needs and “changed many lives” by “putting his soul into teaching”.


One person wrote: ‘So sad, my deepest condolences to the family. What terrible, terrible news! I met Katy several times and she was a lovely woman and a fantastic mother.’

A neighbor added: ‘So sad… she was just a few doors away, such a beautiful, angelic woman… so heartbreaking, the whole crescent is really sad.

“RIP beautiful Katy and my deepest condolences to the family, especially her young son, my heart goes out to him…so tragic.”

Another commented: ‘RIP Katy, sending love to family and friends. You were a wonderful teacher.

One mother said: ‘So tragic that she was an excellent teacher. Much loved by children.

Another said: “Very sad Mrs Harris was my son’s teacher she was lovely and will be sadly missed by many my thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.”

Another parent wrote: ‘Horrible news, this lady was my daughter’s teacher. She is devastated tonight.

My thoughts are with her family, friends, students, and everyone at the school she worked with.

Meanwhile, a former student added: “Mrs. Harris taught at a special needs school, she was an amazing woman, she changed the lives of all the children who went there, she brought me out of my shell at school, to what The world has come.”
