Why Was Rex Ryan Fired? When Rex Ryan leaves the Buffalo Bills, where is he going? He was hired by ESPN, where he works as an analyst and contributor to Sunday NFL Countdown.
Former American football coach Rex Ryan is from that country.
He served as the head coach of the New York Jets from 2009 to 2014 and the Buffalo Bills from 2015 to 2016.
He was appointed head coach of the New York Jets in 2009, and between that year and 2010, he led the team to two consecutive AFC Championship appearances.
After being fired by the Jets in 2015, Ryan became the head coach of the Buffalo Bills, a position he held until the middle of the 2016 campaign.
Similar to this, Ryan took part in The Amazing Race 34 in 2022 with his golfing partner Tim Mann. In Innsbruck, Austria, his team finished 11th and was the second to be eliminated.
Where Is Rex Ryan Going After Leaving Buffalo Bills?
At the conclusion of the 2016 season, Rex Ryan lost his job as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills.
Ryan and ESPN signed a contract in 2016 for Ryan to provide analysis for the network’s Super Bowl LI pregame and postgame broadcasts after the Bills released him after one season.
Following ESPN’s victory over Fox (as well as CBS and NFL Network) for the game rights, the one-game agreement left open the possibility that Ryan would remain with ESPN through the 2017 season.
Ryan was officially announced in April as an analyst for ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown.
Ryan competed in The Amazing Race’s 34th season on CBS in 2022, but he dropped out after the second leg.

GM Doug Whaley will be in charge of finding Ryan’s replacement, the Bills announced.
The MMQB’s Albert Breer reported on Monday that Whaley said he had nothing to do with Ryan’s firing.
According to Nick Veronica of the Buffalo News, Whaley failed to find out why Ryan wasn’t kept on.
Ryan didn’t wait a week to be fired because he thought it was “inevitable,” according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
According to Jeff Darlington of ESPN, “several players” found out about Ryan’s firing when the Bills announced it on Twitter.
Ryan signed a five-year, $27.5 million contract with the Buffalo in January 2015, becoming the team’s 18th head coach.
His addition was anticipated to revive a team that had been struggling as an AFC East team.
With three All-Pros in Tyrod Taylor, LeSean McCoy, and Sammy Watkins, the Bills also had a strong offense in 2015, but they still need to show noticeable improvement.
In terms of points scored and total yards, Buffalo finished the season in 12th and 13th place, respectively, but the defense was ranked at positions 15 and 19, respectively.
The Bills, who finished fourth in both points and yards allowed in 2014 under head coach Doug Marrone, were particularly troubled by these average stats.
When did Rex Ryan leave the Jets?
The Jets went on to win two of their last three games to finish with a 4–12 record, their worst finish under Ryan. Despite players again expressing their desire for Ryan to remain the coach, he was dismissed on December 29, 2014.
