When this entrepreneur isn’t busy working on getting the Starship rocket ready for its visit to the moon and Mars, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO works to stay healthy. He’s performed a bit of karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Taekwondo, and judo, according to CNBC.

Although Elon Musk is not a major fan of running or hitting up the treadmill, he admits that watching “a compelling show” on TV definitely makes treadmill sessions much more enjoyable. He also spends time lifting weights. Musk says with honesty, “To be totally frank, I wouldn’t exercise at all if I could. I prefer not to exercise” (via CNBC).

As far as Elon Musk’s diet is concerned, he realizes the benefits of maintaining a good weight, and that includes a healthy immune system. He admits, “I’d rather eat tasty food and live a shorter life” (via CNBC).

In the AM, Musk carves out time to eat breakfast; he favors a cup of java and an omelet, according to Inc. Musk enjoys French and German cuisine; he also likes a tasty barbecue (via Mashed). His guilty pleasure? Cinnamon Toast Crunch!

This powerhouse reportedly gets 6 to 6.5 hours of shuteye each night, admitting, “Sleep is really great. I find if I don’t get enough sleep I’m quite grumpy. I could drop below a certain threshold of sleep, [even though] I could be awake more hours, I would get less done because my mental acuity would be affected” (via Yahoo Philippines).

There’s one healthy habit this co-founder of PayPal enforces regularly. He doesn’t eat or consume alcohol two to three hours prior to heading to sleep, pointing out on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” “Eating before you go to bed is a real bad idea, and actually negatively affects your sleep.” He adds, “Your quality of sleep will improve, and your general health will improve a lot. It’s a big deal” (via CNBC).

There are two things Elon Musk does first thing every morning he feels negatively impact his overall wellness, and he’d like to cut both out. He reveals in an interview with the Full Send Podcast, “I have a bad habit—which I suspect a lot of people do—of immediately checking my phone [in the morning]. It’s a terrible habit, actually,” according to CNBC Make It.

Bad (but oh-so-common) habit #2? Musk deals with emails for a half hour after waking up. He’s ready to up his wellness game, saying on the Full Send Podcast, “I [need] to work out and be in better shape.” He adds, “I’m going to switch from immediately looking at my phone as soon as I wake up to working out for at least 20 minutes—then I’ll look at my phone.”

The struggle is real, and changes can be tough to implement. Musk explains, “I run SpaceX and Tesla, so there’s usually some sort of thing that’s happened overnight.” We totally hear what he’s saying and always support improving and implementing healthy changes.
