Proper hydration is essential for your body and mind. It can even improve your skin health and keep you looking young and healthy. Remember: Your body is roughly 60% water, according to Healthline. If you want to feel mobile and limber, stay hydrated and drink enough water so that your urine is either colorless or a healthy light yellow hue.

As you age, it’s vital to reduce inflammation, because it can worsen body aches and the risk of developing illnesses and diseases, according to Nature Reviews Cardiology. Thankfully, foods like fatty fish, berries, nuts, healthy oils, and leafy green veggies help combat inflammation in your body (and taste great). Conversely, foods that are processed and packed with trans fats, sugar, and artificial ingredients actually worsen inflammation—so avoid them when you can.

Sleep is critical. It allows your body to repair itself, supports brain health, and even affects your hormones and metabolism, according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. But skimping on sleep is a surefire way to impair your overall health and youthfulness. While you tend to sleep less as you age, the National Sleep Foundation guidelines recommend aiming for at least seven hours per night. Trust me; this habit alone can change your life.

Next up on these tips that’ll help you feel much younger than your age is all about frequent movement. Even if you exercise several times a week, it’s still valuable to move regularly each day to get the blood pumping, muscles and joints moving, and more. (Ironically, if you become too sedentary, it can become extremely difficult to reverse it.) Get more low-intensity activity throughout the day: Walk, garden, hike, bike, do calisthenics, etc. It’ll make a big difference.

The last of these easy tips that’ll help you feel younger than your age has to do with fully embracing your life. The honest truth is that I know people in their 80s who are more youthful than people in their 30s. They don’t sit and watch TV all day; they have hobbies and passions that keep them active, and they’re constantly learning and trying new things. If you want to stay young, live a young and active life. Challenge yourself, work your mind and body, and make the most out of every single day.
